DC Councilmember Tommy Wells Felt Snubbed by Joe Biden

Tomy Wells Criticizes Joe Biden for Not Leaving Inaugural Limousine

Vice President Joe Biden in 2009 walked part of the inaugural parade in front of the District government headquarters, The Wilson Building gaining the affection of many city leaders.

This time around he chose to remain in the Vice President limousine drawing backlash from DC Councilmember Tommy Wells.

“I think Biden hurt his presidential chances in D.C. I think it was a pretty serious snub, considering last time he was out there for us,” Ward 6 Councilman Tommy Wells said. “Expectations were high because he did it last time.

Wells said that while he wasn’t personally angry, he was “disappointed.”

DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson objected saying that he felt President Obama and Vice President Biden remained in their limousines in front of Freedom Plaza for security reasons and did not hold either accountable.

Wells went on to say that Biden’s refusal to step out of his limousine would hurt his 2016 Presidential chances in the eyes of DC voters.

Looking at Washington DC’s Democratic voting record and tendency to vote in inept leaders I hardly believe not getting out of a limousine would hold back their vote and if that is the case, that is quite the sad excuse.

  1. Councilman Wells may have felt snubbed as the Vice President and President drove by in their limos but I doubt than any person with an IQ above 50 cared that much. I think that Wells would do well to tend to his own re-election prospects rather than spend much more time predicting the election possibilities of a man who has yet to declare his candidacy. The fact that the President’s limo bore the District’s license plates is enough to cover any other omission, intended or otherwise.
